I don't know what SM wants if they keep puting Kai at the back. He also mainly in charge of the chorus yet SM didn't expose him that much. All of them are superior when it comes to performing , can't deny. But if you want to talk about charisma on stage, Kai shine the most. His figure & clean movements just make him stands out. Facial expression, sharp dance always on a 100% . He know what he's doing without even trying so hard to show people. His strong aura naturally flows all over with his presence . Wherever Kai goes, your eyes already fixed on him. So SM, it's no point for you to try to hid him beside center or at the back.
